«…Sail again through the seas of the tropics and return to the islands and the inexhaustible metamorphoses, where from a bunch of stems with thorns, a pyroga is built and a pod is made. Creolization advances: islands and countries of the Caribbean are lined up on the frontispiece, while the character, immobile and asleep, is contained by a linear architecture.
And the landscape, carnal, sensual and forest, makes its entrance. Here the jungle of Fernando Varela unfolds, lyrical and transparent, immaterial and insinuating, vertical and parallel.
That real – wonderful pictorial ode to Antillean nature, to what they call the humid forest. In fact, it formalizes and places in an ecological context, structures, prostheses, envelopes, "things" of open definition, suggested in other spaces. That special and harmonious landscaping will continue to bear cultural fruits…”
